COSHH regulations were introduced more than 25 years ago and were put in place to protect employees who work with specific materials and substances from becoming ill due to exposure to these elements. This interactive course provides delegates with information required to understand the importance of controlling substances that are hazardous to the health of employees at work.

Reducing exposure to hazardous materials

This 1-day Level 2 OFQUAL accredited Award is aimed at delegates who have access to environments where exposure to hazardous substances is likely. The qualification provides delegates with the knowledge and skills needed to recognise the risks associated with hazardous substances, how to control them, roles and responsibilities, COSHH regulations, routes of entry, effects of substances, monitoring and surveillance, risk assessments, incidents and their required actions etc.

QualificationLevel 2 Award in the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (RQF)
Entry requirements
  • Delegates must be a minimum of 14-years of age.
  • It is advisable to have a minimum of Level 1 in English to enable them to complete the assessment

  • Identify common COSHH symbols
  • Outline the types of information that should be referred to for the safe identification and use of hazardous substances
  • State the general procedures that should be in place for dealing with an incident involving hazardous substances
In addition the course includes roles and responsibilities, monitoring and health surveillance and incidents.
