First Aid at Work Re-qualification
First aid courses have an expiry date as the first aider may not necessarily be exposed to a first aid situation or emergency over a 3-year period. A re-qualification process is therefore required to ensure that the necessary first aid skills are retained.
Renew your First Aid at Work certificate before it expires
The certificate expires after 3-years, so it is important to get it renewed within 3-months before the expiry date. The course is a 2-day Level 3 OFQUAL accredited Award course and covers a summarized version of all of the First Aid at Work course content, as well as any new industry updates or content that might have been added.

What We Cover
All the content from the full 3-day First Aid at Work course will be covered in a format that is suitable for the shorter time frame.
Unit 1: Emergency First Aid
- Understand a first aider’s roles and responsibilities
- Assess an incident and conduct primary surveys
- Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty. This will include CPR and how to use an AED as well as the recovery position
- Seizures, choking and external bleeding are also covered as well as treating casualties in shock and with minor injuries
Unit 2: Recognition and management of illness and injury
- Revision of Day-1
- Conducting secondary surveys
- Identify and provide first aid for sprains, strains, fractures and dislocations
- Head and spinal injury treatment
- Chest injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
- First aid for major illnesses such as heart attacks, strokes, asthma and diabetes
- Injuries such as abdominal and crush injuries
- Extreme heat and cold injuries
- Bites and stings
