If you are a parent or carer of young children and infants or work in an environment that is responsible for their welfare, it is advisable to learn these important first aid skills as they could save a child’s life.
Working in an environment with children
Ofsted Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) states “At least one person who has a current paediatric first aid (PFA) certificate must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present, and must accompany children on outings” (Gov.UK, Department for Education, 03 March 2017). This 2-day blended learning OFQUAL Level 3 Award course is facilitated by 1-day online study and 1-day face-to-face training.

What We Cover
Our blended learning course has two components: E-learning at home where you will need to complete 4-hours of learning and theory. You will then need to attend a face-to-face course for 1-day in order to complete the practical training as well as the assessments.
- Understand a first aider’s roles and responsibilities
- Assess an incident and conduct primary surveys
- Provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty. This will include CPR and how to use an AED as well as the recovery position
- Seizures, choking and external bleeding are also covered as well as shock
- Bites, stings and minor injuries
- Identify and provide first aid for sprains, strains, fractures and dislocations
- Head, neck and back injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Electric shocks
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Anaphylaxis
- First aid for acute medical conditions such as sickle cell anaemia, diabetes, asthma, Meningitis and allergic reactions
